I hope this holds true even when the words are spoken by a charming and convincing sociopath who showers you with gifts and lets you do things your other parent always says "NO WAY" to.....
Having BEEN your kids, and having a father who IS TRULY a sociopath, I can tell you that it's hard to see when you're young. You want so VERY much for your parents to be normal. But they DO catch on. I haven't spoken to or seen my dad for over 20 years. They can't hide who they are forever. And had my mother been emotionally healthy, I would have caught on far sooner. Your boys have YOU.
